Rifle River Recreation Area - Located a short 16 miles east of West Branch, the Rifle River Recreation Area is a 4,000 acre wilderness within the AuSable State Forest featuring 14 miles of pathways and plentiful activities for visitors. Hike through the park and visit the observation tower that boasts an incredible view of the park. There is a swimming beach, picnic shelters, canoeing, and fishing. The park is a designated watchable wildlife site, so bring your binoculars. The park also allows metal detecting in designated areas. Roscommon Zoo - A short 16 miles from Beaver Trail Campground, Roscommon Zoo is a farm and zoo nestled on 20 acres and offers domestic and exotic animals for viewing and petting. Most of the animals can be hand-fed healthy treats. Home to over 70 friendly animals, the zoo features a dromedary camel named Humphrey, ring tailed lemurs, a miniature horse named Chip, and wallabies to name a few.
